Herstory The Fairy: Meet Marian Anderson

I will write a 30 to 40-page short graphic novel about the life of Marian Anderson. Along with the script will be an illustrated storyboard. A comic storyboard is a crucial part of comic book creation and a bridge that connects the process of scripting with the final layout of comic book frames and/or panels. This will be a biographical profile piece about her accomplishments during a time when African Americans were afforded very little participation or recognition as performers. Barries she broke include but are not limited to, her solo concert on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in 1939, becoming the first African American artist to sign with RCA Victor Recording Company and she was the first African American to perform on the main stage at the Metropolitan Opera. These achievements along with her story will be illustrated and written in a compelling and engaging narrative arc. This short graphic novel can ultimately be pitched to publishers upon completion, for a full representation of Marian Anderson's life and legacy. Keeping the life and legacy of Marian Anderson alive for the current and future generations is pivotal in inspiring and motivating young musicians and aspiring artists today.
